Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Nairobi
Your safari begins the moment you land in Nairobi. Our driver meets you at the airport and takes you straight to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to rest after a long flight. Nairobi sits at a comfortable altitude. Most travelers find the cooler evening air a welcome change from home. Overnight stay at your Nairobi hotel.
Day 2 Nairobi to Masai Mara
Breakfast comes early today, since the drive to the Mara takes most of the morning. The road drops through the Great Rift Valley, and the view alone earns the early start. You reach the reserve by early afternoon and check in. An evening game drive follows before dinner back at camp. This is often when travelers spot their first lion of the whole trip. Overnight at your Masai Mara camp, full board.
Day 3 Full Day Game Drives in Masai Mara
Two game drives fill this day, one at sunrise and one in the late afternoon. Both windows matter for a real reason. Predators move most during the cooler hours, right after dawn and just before dusk. Between drives, you rest at camp and have lunch. Expect a real shot at lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo, with some luck stretching to rhino too. Overnight at your Masai Mara camp, full board.
Day 4 Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru
After breakfast, you leave the Mara behind and head toward Lake Nakuru. The drive passes Mount Longonot and gives you a distant view of Lake Naivasha along the way. You arrive at Nakuru in time for lunch. An afternoon drive around the lake follows soon after. Nakuru holds one of Kenya’s densest concentrations of both black and white rhino. Overnight near Lake Nakuru, full board.
Day 5 Lake Nakuru National Park
A full morning game drive covers the lake shore and the surrounding acacia forest. Nakuru draws thousands of flamingos in the right season. That pink shoreline ranks among the more striking sights on this whole trip. You will also likely spot Rothschild’s giraffe, a species found in very few other parks. Day 6 Lake Nakuru to Amboseli National Park
Breakfast comes first, then a private transfer heads south toward Amboseli. This is a longer driving day, so lunch gets planned along the route to break it up. You arrive in the afternoon with enough daylight left for a first game drive. Amboseli is famous above all for one thing, its close-range elephant herds set against snow-capped Kilimanjaro. On a clear morning, that view is hard to match anywhere else in Africa. Overnight at Amboseli, full board.
Day 7 Amboseli Game Drives
Morning and afternoon drives both run today, timed around when Kilimanjaro’s peak tends to be visible. Cloud cover often builds by midday, so early risers get the better photos here. Amboseli’s swamps draw elephants, buffalo, and a strong mix of birdlife throughout the day. This closes out your final full safari day in Kenya, so both drives are worth the effort. Day 8 Amboseli to Johannesburg
Breakfast at camp comes first, then a transfer back toward Nairobi for your flight south. The route typically runs through Nairobi’s main airport, connecting to South Africa in roughly four hours. Our team meets you again on arrival and transfers you to your Johannesburg hotel. This day runs mostly on transit time, so keep plans light and rest up before Cape Town begins. You spend the night resting at your Johannesburg hotel.
Day 9 Johannesburg to Cape Town
An early breakfast starts the day, followed by your flight down to Cape Town. Once you land, a private transfer takes you straight to your hotel in the city. Cape Town greets most first-time visitors with a genuine surprise. Between the mountain backdrop and the coastline, it rarely looks like what people expect from Africa. The rest of the day stays free for settling in nearby. Overnight stay in Cape Town.
Day 10 Cape Town City and Table Mountain Tour
Today covers the city’s biggest names in one full but well-paced day. A cable car ride takes you up Table Mountain, with panoramic views over the Cape Peninsula. Back down, a city tour covers the center, the Company’s Garden, and the Castle of Good Hope. Optional add-ons include a sunset cruise or a Robben Island visit, both worth booking in advance. Overnight stay in Cape Town.
Day 11 Cape Peninsula and Cape Point
A scenic drive along the Atlantic coast opens the day. It passes through Camps Bay and Hout Bay’s fishing harbor. From there, the road continues to Cape Point, a rugged and wind-swept edge near the peninsula’s tip. The Cape of Good Hope sits close by, home to penguin colonies and a genuinely dramatic coastline. Quiet, historic Simon’s Town rounds out the day with its own slower charm. Overnight stay in Cape Town.
Day 12 Free Day in Cape Town
Today stays entirely yours to shape however you like. Some travelers add a half-day trip into the Cape Winelands, an easy drive from the city. Others prefer to slow right down, browsing the V&A Waterfront or simply enjoying the beach. Adventure add-ons like paragliding or shark cage diving are also available on request. Day 13 Departure from Cape Town
Your final breakfast in Cape Town closes out the trip on a quiet note. Depending on your flight time, there may be room for one last coffee near the waterfront. A transfer to the airport wraps up thirteen days that began on the opposite end of the continent. Few trips cover this much ground, this well, in a single booking.

What This Trip Costs in 2026
Pricing on this route runs in two parts. Kenya and South Africa simply work on different cost structures. Our own seven-day Kenya safari circuit covers Nairobi, the Masai Mara, Nakuru, and Amboseli. It starts from $1,838 per person on a mid-range tented camp basis. That figure already folds in park fees, camp nights, meals, and every road transfer across the Kenya leg.
Season shifts that number by a fair amount. Masai Mara park fees run $100 per person per day between January and June. That rate then jumps to $200 per day from July through December, tracking the Great Migration closely. Camp rates tend to follow a similar pattern, climbing higher across those same peak months.
The South Africa half of your trip gets quoted on its own. We build that quote around your chosen hotel category and travel season in Johannesburg and Cape Town. We do not publish one fixed price for the full thirteen days. South Africa hotel rates and internal flight costs shift often. A flat number would end up misleading more than it would help. What we can offer fast is a real total. Give us your travel dates and preferred hotel tier first.
